João Marinho Neto, officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest living man, has turned 113.
Born on October 5, 1912, in Maranguape, Ceará, Brazil, Marinho celebrated the historic milestone surrounded by his family and friends.
His loved ones threw him a big party in his hometown, marking more than a century of memories, love, and resilience.
In a warm birthday message on Instagram, Guinness World Records equally celebrated Marinho.
“Happy 113th birthday to João Marinho Neto, the world’s oldest man. The Brazilian is celebrating the massive milestone today with a big party his loved ones planned for him,” part of the post read.
The post added that Marinho has been loving life ever since he was named the oldest man living in November last year, following the death of the UK’s John Tinniswood at age 112.
At the time of his recognition, Marinho was 112 years and 52 days old, as confirmed by LongeviQuest, a global organization that tracks validated longevity records.
Now, at 113, Marinho stands as the last surviving man born in 1912 — a remarkable title that places him among the rarest living links to a bygone era.
Speaking to People, Marinho shared the simple philosophy that has guided him through more than a century of life.
He credited his longevity to “living peacefully, enjoying a little wine, and always being grateful for life.”
He added that laughter and faith have carried him through the ups and downs of the decades, saying he feels “happy and thankful every single day.”
Marinho’s extraordinary life spans some of history’s most defining moments.
He was born the same year the Titanic sank, grew up during two world wars, and lived to see everything from the moon landing to the rise of smartphones.
