The Italian Cultural Institute in Nairobi, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, honored the life and legacy of the late Giorgio Armani with a special commemorative event held at the official Italian Residence.

The event was hosted by Ambassador Roberto Natali, Head of the Italian Diplomatic Mission in Nairobi, and brought together academics, journalists, and cultural leaders to celebrate Armani’s enduring impact on global fashion.

In heartfelt tributes, Dr. Jacqueline Kisato of Kenyatta University and journalist Freddie del Curatolo reflected on Armani’s remarkable career, emphasizing how his work transcended generations and symbolized Italian elegance on the world stage.

They highlighted his ability to redefine both menswear and womenswear through minimalist sophistication, unstructured tailoring, and designs that empowered individuals with timeless style.

Giorgio Armani, who passed away on September 4, 2025, in Milan at the age of 91, leaves behind a fashion empire spanning nearly five decades.

From his groundbreaking power suits of the 1980s to the global success of Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, and Armani Privé, his influence extended beyond fashion into fragrances, home décor, hospitality, and Hollywood’s red carpets.

Ambassador Natali underscored that Armani’s passing marks not only the loss of a legendary designer but also the close of an era in which he safeguarded the integrity of Italian craftsmanship while inspiring the world.
