Taarab music icon Khadija Kopa has publicly declared that she will not allow her daughter, Zuchu, to endure any form of physical abuse in her marriage to Diamond Platnumz.
Speaking in a candid interview in Dar es Salaam, the revered songstress made it clear that while challenges in marriage are normal, violence is never one to be tolerated.
“Mambo ya mtoto wangu yupo kwa mume kumwambia kwamba astahimili kipigo hapana, kwa kweli. Mwanangu astahimili matatizo mengine yote, lakini mambo ya kumfundisha kwamba astahimili kipigo staki,” said Khadija Kopa.
Her remarks have ignited heated debate online, with many praising her for boldly addressing an issue that is often brushed aside in celebrity marriages.
Neither Zuchu nor Diamond Platnumz, the Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) CEO; has commented on Kopa’s statement.
Notably, Diamond has never been publicly accused of violence in any of his past high-profile relationships, including with Tanasha Donna, Hamisa Mobetto, and Zari Hassan.
The comments come at a time when the entertainment world is abuzz with discussions on domestic violence, following a disturbing viral video of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
In the clip, which spread rapidly on X, Daniels appears distressed, shouting,
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house, I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”
The footage shows several people attempting to restrain her amid visible tension, sparking speculation that her marriage to Nigerian politician and businessman Ned Nwoko may be in turmoil.
Fans were quick to recall that in February, Daniels had quietly removed her husband’s name from her Instagram bio and deleted several photos of him.
Though she later returned to social media, she responded to her critics with a cryptic post, captioning a photo beside a Ferrari:
“Don’t comment if you’ve never cried in a Ferrari before.”
