Akothee has sent a cautionary message to Nigerian actress Regina Daniels, urging her not to return to her billionaire husband Senator Ned Nwonko.
In a raw Facebook post, Akothee drew from her own painful past, revealing that she too had been entangled in a relationship with a wealthy and powerful man, one that left her battling emotional wounds long after it ended.
“I was sued by my billionaire partner for not taking orders. I dumped him in 2017, and he sued me in 2019 when he realised I was not coming back,” she wrote. “We are still in court… I am still under emotional arrest.”
Comparing her scars to Regina’s, Akothee urged the young actress to stand firm and resist the pressure to return to what she described as a “messy” situation.
“I heard you say you will go back. Ahh, to do what?” Akothee questioned. “Don’t go back, mummy. This mess is too messy. I pray for you to get strength, my girl.”
Akothee went on to reflect on the double standards women in the public eye often face, noting that celebrities are rarely allowed to be vulnerable.
“People forget that we celebrities bleed too,” she said. “We can’t entertain you from the depth of our wounds, we must first heal, wipe our tears, and gather the strength to show up again.”
She also defended Regina’s mother, who has faced online criticism for her daughter’s choices. “There is no mother who would willingly watch her daughter make painful choices and just stay silent,” she wrote.
“We try to guide, we plead, we pray but sometimes our children block us out for simply having a different opinion.”
Recently, Daniels made fresh allegations against her husband. The two have reportedly been living apart in recent weeks, are said to be facing severe marital challenges
following the circulation of a viral video that showed Regina in distress at her home.
Shortly after the video spread online, further reports alleged that Nwoko had allegedly sent thugs to assault and forcibly remove her from their residence.
Nwoko denied the claims, attributing Daniels’ actions to drug and alcohol addiction.
The dispute escalated with the arrest of Daniels’ brother, Sammy West, and in response, the police clarified that he was arrested after failing to honour a police invitation regarding a petition accusing him of conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying.
