Dancehall star Dufla has spoken out after a viral video of him interacting with a young boy during a roadshow in Lodwar sparked heated debate online.
The clip, which shows the excited child clinging to Dufla’s moving convoy and declaring he wants to be the singer’s dancer, triggered mixed reactions — with some accusing the artiste of endangering the boy.
But speaking exclusively to TNX, the Donjo Maber hitmaker said the moment was completely misunderstood.
“I was in a convoy during a roadshow and it was just a random thing. He did not have a phone and the vehicle was moving. So vile alikuwa psyched up alinibamba,” Dufla explained. “The video originally came from me. I shared it with the person who first posted it on TikTok. I had posted it on my WhatsApp status and even asked for his details.”
According to Dufla, by the time social media users began debating the clip, he was already looking for the boy, who has since been identified as Fabian True.
“The next day, I was still in Lodwar and we met and talked. We even had a meal and exchanged contacts,” he said.
Following their emotional reunion, Dufla took Fabian on a small shopping spree and bought him clothes.
The artiste revealed he is now in talks with the boy’s family about formally taking responsibility for him.
“We are making arrangements with his family to see how I can adopt or be his guardian,” Dufla said. “He will be coming to Nairobi on Thursday to meet all these people excited to see him, including Iyanii. Since it’s the festive season, he’ll have fun around the city as we plan for him to start school in Nairobi next year.”
Fabian, who is also a passionate dancer, has already declared his ambitions.
“Mimi ni dancer wako. Nataka kukupigia dance yako hadi ufurahii,” he told Dufla.
Dufla says the boy is now in safe hands, and the priority is nurturing his talent.
“He likes dancing and I will connect him with my crew, akina Collo, for him to develop that talent as he wishes.”
In a twist of fate, Fabian’s story mirrors Dufla’s own beginnings. Over a decade ago, Dufla was discovered during a roadshow in Turkana by media personality Willy M. Tuva, a chance encounter that launched his career.
To support Fabian’s budding journey, Dufla’s team has already set up an Instagram account where the youngster can post content and engage with fans.
“I’m committed to giving him the opportunities I never had,” Dufla said.
