Gospel musician Shiru wa GP has announced the way forward for the late Betty Bayo’s brand endorsement deals, confirming that her contract with Virtuous Explorers will remain active despite her death.

Shiru, who has been central in leading funeral preparations and coordinating planning meetings, said the decision was reached after consultations with Virtuous Explorers CEO Sarah Mtalii and lawyer Mwenda Njagi.

“Following yesterday’s meeting, it was agreed that Betty Bayo’s contract with Virtuous Explorers will continue even after her sudden demise,” Shiru said, noting that the company was committed to honouring the agreement Bayo had faithfully executed during her lifetime.

She added that once the burial is complete, Bayo’s daughter Tash and her ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, will sit down with the company to negotiate a revised contract for Sky Victor as a way of preserving Bayo’s legacy.

“After we lay our sister Betty Bayo, thereafter, Tash and Pastor Kanyari will meet with Virtuous Explorers to negotiate a new contract extension for Sky Victor in honour of Betty Bayo, which will secure Sky Victor’s and Dany’s future,” she stated.

The update comes at a time when support for the late singer’s family continues to pour in as preparations for her sendoff intensify ahead of the 20 November burial.

On Saturday, former State House spokesperson Kanze Dena visited the family to deliver former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Sh1 million contribution to assist with funeral expenses.

“Kanze also delivered the former President’s support of Ksh1 million for the funeral arrangements, extended in honour of Betty’s life and ministry,” Shiru said.

In his condolence message, Kenyatta described Bayo as “an extraordinary minister of the gospel whose music uplifted countless hearts and inspired hope across the nation.”

He praised her unwavering dedication to ministry and her role in shaping Kenya’s gospel music landscape, adding that her impact would endure through her children, her body of work, and the many lives she touched over the years.

According to the funeral committee, Bayo will be laid to rest in Mugumo Estate along Kiambu Road, in a ceremony expected to cost approximately Sh3 million.

Tributes continue to stream in from across the gospel fraternity and the wider public, reflecting the immense footprint she leaves behind in Kenya’s music and ministry spaces.
