A court in Singapore has officially charged serial red carpet crasher Johnson Wen, who attacked American pop star Ariana Grande during the premiere of the highly anticipated film Wicked: For Good on November 13.

26-year-old Wen was charged with being a public nuisance and was ordered to appear in court, according to CBS News.

Court documents, posted online, revealed that Wen chose to represent himself and stated he would plead guilty.

He is set to appear in court again on November 17.

The incident, widely circulated online, shows Wen running onto the red carpet and grabbing the “7 Rings” singer by the shoulders as she tried to pull away.

Actress Cynthia Erivo quickly intervened, pushing Wen off Grande while security personnel moved him away.

Fans praised Erivo’s heroic act. She had told CBS Mornings in 2024 that she and Grande agreed to look out for each other during filming.

“Before we started shooting, both of us had a conversation about making sure that we would take care of each other and make the space that we needed, and be generous with each other in this thing,” Erivo said. “We knew neither of us could really do that alone.”

Before the incident, stars including Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Erivo, Jeff Goldblum, and Ariana Grande were walking down the yellow brick road carpet at Universal Studios Singapore.

Wen, who had black hair with blue streaks, a white shirt, and shorts, left the 30-year-old singer visibly shaken. Grande took deep breaths as Erivo and Yeoh comforted her.

Surprisingly, Wen posted a video of the attack on his Instagram, writing, “Dear Ariana Grande, Thank you for letting me jump on the Yellow Carpet with you.”

Known online as “Pyjama Man,” this was not his first stunt.

According to People, Wen previously jumped on stage during Katy Perry’s performance in June and at The Weeknd’s show in August, before being removed by security.

If convicted, Wen faces a fine of Sh194,250 ($1,500), up to three months in jail, or both.

Social media users had mixed reactions.

Chola Spears commented, “I feel like these artists should get together and sue Singapore for allowing this man to run around people’s stages,” while another asked, “Why is he not banned from these things?”
