DJ Dibul has hit back at critics questioning his masculinity after rumours circulated online alleging that he is being beaten by his wife, actress Dorea Chege.
The entertainer woke up on Monday to find his name trending for reasons he did not expect. Reacting to the sudden buzz, he noted, “Siku hizi unaingia online unaajikuta uki trend na hujui.”
What started as a handful of comments quickly spiralled into widespread gossip, with some social media users boldly claiming that “amekaliwa” and living under his wife’s control.
One critic went as far as telling him, “Bro, stand up like a man… nimekuadvice ukue mwanaume umekataa… umekaliwa sana.”
Dibul did not let the jab pass. He responded almost instantly, brushing off the claim with a mix of humour and confidence. His reply read, “Sijakaliwa kama wewe nugu hii.”
The conversation took a new turn when Dorea Chege posted that she was looking for a taekwondo trainer, writing, “I’m looking for a taekwondo trainer?”
Commentators quickly linked the post to the ongoing rumours, using it as supposed ‘evidence’ that she might be aggressive or physically dominant at home.
User @khami003 commented, “ndio upige dibul,” to which Dorea calmly replied, “anapigwa kwani ame fungwa mikono.”
Her responses signalled awareness of the online chatter, though she remained unbothered and chose not to entertain the rumours further.
Later, Dorea posted a heartfelt message dedicated to DJ Dibul in honour of International Men’s Day, a gesture that starkly contrasted the speculation surrounding their relationship. In her tribute, she praised him for his strength, resilience, blessings and growth throughout the year.
She added that she was honoured to stand by his side “through every triumph and every trial.” She ended her message with warm wishes for more blessings and a lifetime of facing challenges together.
Her message presented a clear picture of their relationship, one grounded in support, admiration and mutual love, effectively putting the swirling rumours to rest
