A somber mood engulfed Ndumberi stadium on Thursday, as thousands of fans,family artists congregated to bid farewell to a celebrated gospel Musician, Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, popularly known as Betty Bayo.

Betty died on November 10.

The stadium was filled to near capacity with police having a hectic time controlling traffic along the busy Kiambu Ndumberi road.

Speakers eulogized Betty as an obedient, hard working and gentle woman who loved peace.

There was uneasy calm as Betty’s estranged husband Pastor Kanyari rose to eulogize her.

Kanyari termed Betty as his beloved wife and mother of his children. Betty together with Kanyari have two children Sky Victor and and Danny Victor .

“I shall continue to cherish the times we shared and promise to be a good father of our children,”Kanyari said .

Betty’s immediate husband Hiram Gitau commonly referred to as Tash was also present.

He was escorted by DJ Mo and Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi .

Tash said that he has lost his best friend, confidant and lover in the most unexpected of time in their life time .

“I have lost the compass that I used to navigate the world, the emptiness in my house is worrying me as well as silence, I remain committed to our life and I want you to be happy wherever you are , I want to you to have enough peace in your silence,”Tash said

Tash promised to guard and protect children with all his might.

“I will be their guard , I will be their fortress I want them to feel adored and wanted. I thank you Betty for cementing our two families. I am wounded and broken, it is hard to accept this will of God ,watch over us till I hold you again in heaven,”Tash said .

The funeral was attended by among other people Prof Kithure Kindiki the deputy president ,Mps Eric Wamumbi, Gathoni Muchomba , Sabina Chege and Muranga women rep  Betty Njeri , tens of secular and gospel musicians and clergy.

Betty was born in 1985 in Njiku village in Karuri Kiambu . She schooled in Gitare primary school before joining Riara high school where she sat for her KCSE in the year 2004.

Betty studied Videography and photography and later studied journalism. She Betty would later abandon the pen and cameras for guitar and lyrics and she made her first album known as 11th hour.

This album sprung her to limelight and gave life to her an illustrious music career .

Betty was also involved in marketing real estates, travel promotion and beauty products .
