Kenyans have rallied around Magdalene Nzambi, a KMTC Murang’a student, after she revealed that none of her family members would attend her graduation on December 4, 2025, at Kasarani Stadium.

In a video posted on TikTok, Nzambi said her family had become “preoccupied” and expressed her wish to receive “a genuine hug” on the day of her graduation.

Dressed in a brown crop top and blue jeans, she wrote, “This is me, almost losing it all, wishing on that day, I’ll still get flowers and hugs. I just wanted to celebrate my day with close ones. Family isn’t always by blood, so I hope that day the universe will bring me a new family.”

The video quickly went viral, prompting thousands of Kenyans to offer support.

Many volunteered to provide transport, including Uber rides and six-seater cars with drivers.

Others offered hair and makeup services, wigs, outfits, cakes, and free photoshoots to help Nzambi celebrate her milestone.

Several public figures also joined the response.

Actress Trisha Khalid asked if she could attend the ceremony with a friend, while singer Mr Seed offered to perform.

Dancer Collo Blue proposed leading a dance celebration, and business owner Wigs by Gitu offered wigs as gifts.

Social media users, too, continued to post offers of assistance, including assistance with transportation, graduation photos, and other event preparations.

The graduation ceremony will take place at Moi International Sports Centre, commonly known as Kasarani Stadium, on December 4.

This is not the first instance of Kenyans providing support to individuals following viral social media posts. In September, hundreds of people travelled to Othaya to assist Vincent Kaluma, popularly known as Kaluma Boy, after videos documenting his life with his ill father gained widespread attention.

In October, thousands attended a gathering at Njukiri Showground in Embu to support Mama Gift, a mother caring for her son, Baby Gift, who has cerebral palsy, chronic asthma, and cardiovascular complications.

In both cases, social media posts detailing personal challenges led to tangible assistance from community members, including transportation, medical support, and other resources.

The response to Magdalene Nzambi’s announcement demonstrates a similar pattern of coordinated support, with offers of practical assistance from individuals and groups across Kenya to ensure she can celebrate her graduation.
