Nairobi is set for a vibrant cultural spectacle this weekend as legendary rapper Collo and singer-songwriter Nviiri the Storyteller headline the second edition of AfroLatin Tamasha, taking place on Saturday 29, November, at Redroom, Adlife Plaza in Kilimani.
Collo is expected to debut his new single Rematch alongside crowd favourites such as Girl Like You and Floss na Wewe.
Nviiri will also bring his signature energy to the stage, performing hits including Pombe Sigara.
Their performances will be amplified by East African collective Ritmo Connexion, a cross-cultural band known for blending Afro-Latin rhythms into a lively live experience.
The ensemble features Mike Jozee, Sanchez Salvador, Niyo Boi, Shirleen Ishenyi, Keisha Harris and Moses Karanja, among others.
This year’s edition, themed Celebrating Rhythm, Culture and Connection, will draw performers from eight countries; Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, South Africa, Ghana, France, Tunisia and Kenya.
Malindi’s renowned Kikwetu Dancers will also take the stage, adding a coastal flair to the line-up.
AfroLatin Tamasha has carved a niche as one of the region’s most dynamic cultural showcases, celebrating the fusion between African and Latin American sounds.
Organisers say the festival attracts more than 7,000 dancers, musicians and cultural enthusiasts from across Africa and Europe.
Attendees can expect an immersive experience featuring salsa, kizomba, bachata, semba and afrobeats, alongside vibrant social dance sessions led by seasoned performers.
Top Nairobi DJs, including Jam Mixmaster, Dan the DJ and DJ D’Cure, will keep the dance floor buzzing with Afrobeat, Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha Cha, Merengue, Kizomba and Kompa.
Organisers say the event aims to solidify Nairobi’s growing reputation as a regional hub for Afro-Latin culture while strengthening artistic collaboration across East and Southern Africa.
The festival also highlights the role of dance and music in wellness, cultural exchange and the growth of Kenya’s creative economy.
Robert Munene, founder of AfroLatin Tamasha, said the second edition marks an important step for the movement.
“AfroLatin Tamasha 2.0 is an essential step towards our larger vision: connecting artists across East and Southern Africa, promoting wellness through dance, and turning rhythm into livelihood,” he said.
“We’ve curated an evening that showcases the vibrant fusion of African and Latin cultures. This event is about creating regular opportunities for our community to connect, celebrate and experience the richness of Afro-Latin culture. We invite everyone, from seasoned dancers to the simply curious, to join us for a night of unforgettable music and dance.”
