Kenyan content creator Pritty Vishy has issued a firm response to growing online criticism over her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery.
In a series of Instagram Stories, Pritty Vishy told critics to inform themselves before forming opinions on the procedure.
“Many of you are so illiterate about this cosmetic surgery thing… please, before you comment on anything, just do your own research. There’s Google, ChatGPT and more days to research,” she wrote.
She also addressed social media users advocating for natural beauty, stating that while she respected their views, she personally did not share them.
“Kwa my fellow ‘embrace what God gave you,’ it’s okay, but let me tell you I will not embrace it… when you start working on yourself, there’s this joy and love that comes with it. Kama hujai jichukia huezi elewa,” she said.
In a recent YouTube video, the influencer revealed that she had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), a tummy tuck, and liposuction.
The announcement sparked mixed reactions, with some fans expressing support and others accusing her of influencing younger audiences to pursue similar procedures.
Pritty Vishy’s stance comes amid a rising trend of cosmetic enhancements among Kenyan public figures, who are increasingly open about altering their physical appearance. What was once viewed as taboo is now being framed as self-improvement, confidence-building, and personal growth.
In recent months, several other influencers have publicly shared their experiences with cosmetic surgery.
Lydia Wanjiru revealed she had undergone a BBL and is currently recovering.
At the same time, Gloria Ntazola disclosed that she had lip fillers and tummy liposuction, describing the procedures as part of her transformation and self-care.
Men in the entertainment space have also spoken openly about cosmetic enhancements.
Content creator Tileh restored his receding hairline on 19 August 2025, while socialite Risper shared her experience undergoing a hair transplant in October 2024 after postpartum-related hair thinning.
Their openness has contributed to shifting public perceptions, with some social media users expressing admiration and stating they, too, would consider similar procedures.
Under a post by Lydia Wanjiru, one TikTok user commented, “Mimi nayo ni pesa sina. Nitajiumba from scratch hao wahenga wenu hawataamini,” while another added, “I am next. I love this.”
This growing transparency among influencers has helped normalise discussions around cosmetic surgery, encouraging more Kenyans to explore body enhancement options, despite growing concerns over the health effects of these procedures.
Cosmetic surgery refers to elective medical procedures aimed at enhancing or modifying physical appearance.
It differs from reconstructive surgery, which corrects abnormalities caused by injury or medical conditions.
Common cosmetic procedures include BBLs, liposuction, tummy tucks, lip fillers, rhinoplasty, facelifts, and body contouring.
