Jamaican dancehall sensation Spice has canceled her anticipated show in Uganda, originally scheduled for December 6, citing the promoter’s failure to honour contractual obligations.
The announcement, shared through her Facebook post, left many East African fans disappointed, especially those who had eagerly been awaiting her return to the Pearl of Africa.
In her statement, Spice expressed genuine excitement about performing for her Ugandan followers, whom she affectionately referred to as her “brothers and sisters.”
She noted that she had been fully prepared for the trip as part of her ongoing global engagements. However, the breakdown in agreements with the event organizer made it impossible for her to proceed.
“Attention! I will not be attending this event in Uganda on December 6th. I was truly excited and looking forward to meeting my brothers and sisters there, but unfortunately the promoter did not fulfill the contractual agreements,” she wrote.
The cancellation has sparked conversations online, with fans expressing both disappointment and understanding.
Spice, known for her electric performances and bold fashion statements, has a strong following in East Africa, where her music enjoys massive airplay.
The Uganda stop had been expected to be one of the key highlights of her wider tour engagements across various regions.
Spice, who recently shared photos in stunning blue-themed outfits while on international tours, has been active throughout the year, performing at major shows and festivals across the Caribbean, Europe, and the Middle East.
The Uganda concert would have marked another milestone in her efforts to maintain a close connection with her African audience, a relationship she has consistently nurtured through music collaborations and repeated visits to the continent.
Industry observers note that artist-promoter conflicts remain a recurring challenge within the African entertainment landscape, often resulting in late-stage cancellations.
Spice’s transparency in addressing the matter has been commended by some fans who appreciate her professionalism and respect for her audience.
Despite the setback, the dance hall star assured her followers that she remains committed to returning to Uganda when proper arrangements can be made. For now, Ugandan fans will have to wait a little longer to experience the Queen of Dancehall live on their stage.
