Commotion erupted at a university after a graduand was allegedly caught with a gown belonging to another student.
In a viral clip circulated on X, a young man accused a woman of stealing his graduation gown during a photoshoot.
Dressed in a pink suit, patterned shirt, graduation sash and cap, he claimed that she had taken the gown and that all attempts to reach her had been unsuccessful.
He further alleged that on the few occasions she answered his calls, she told him she was getting her nails done.
“Jana tulikuwa photoshoot, amekuja akachukua gown yangu. Tumemtafuta the whole day akasema anawekwa nails. From there akazima simu. Nimeuliza marafiki wake wote; ata hatujalala usiku,” the frustrated graduand said.

After searching for her in vain, he decided to wait for graduation day and confront her in the presence of her parents.
“Tumeshinda tumemtafuta mpaka tukaona the only way ni kungojea wazazi wake,” he explained.
Clearly exasperated, he demanded that she show her name on the official graduation list to prove she was genuinely graduating. Someone in the crowd produced the graduation booklet, but after thoroughly checking, they could not find her name.
“Are you in the graduation list? Where did you get your gown?” he repeatedly asked.
The confrontation continued as onlookers urged the young woman to come clean.
Eventually, an elderly woman, believed to be her relative, knelt before the young man and pleaded for forgiveness.
“Nakuomba aki umsamehe,” she said.
The woman then led the young lady away from the crowd, leaving many shocked by the incident.
The confrontation, reportedly at Rongo University, triggered a wave of reactions on social media.
Magnifique on X wrote, “Degree is just a paper, ameiba gown.”
Wafula George added, “Ata kama masomo si kila kitu, she is not smart.”
Joan Mkabwa commented, “This is so sad. Imagine humiliating yourself like this instead of being honest. Many people have not graduated and they are successful. Others have graduated and remain unemployed for years.”
