Kenyan long-distance legend Eliud Kipchoge received a grand royal welcome as he exited a building in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a viral clip on X, two men in black tuxedos bowed and genuflected while opening the door for him, as uniformed officers walked ahead.
Kipchoge, dressed in sportswear, was accompanied by a Thai woman, with dozens of photographers and fans capturing the moment.
According to the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), the footage was taken during the Amazing Thailand Half Marathon on November 30, where Kipchoge ran alongside Her Majesty Queen Suthida.

The event drew over 50,000 participants, highlighting Thailand’s growing presence in global sports.
The streets of Bangkok overflowed with cheering spectators as the queen and the Olympic champion waved and smiled. Kipchoge also embraced Thai culture, training with Muaythai legend Buakaw Banchamek and visiting the historic Rajadamnern Stadium, promoting Muaythai as an Olympic-recognised sport.
“From the marathon streets to the Muaythai ring, Kipchoge trained with Buakaw Banchamek, visited Rajadamnern Stadium, celebrated Thailand’s heritage, and praised Muaythai as a sport of global significance,” IFMA wrote on Instagram.
The marathon was broadcast live on Thailand’s television station (TBS).
Queen Suthida completed the 21.1-kilometre race through Bangkok’s Pathum Wan and Sanam Luang districts in 2 hours, 13 minutes, and 40 seconds.
Kenyans on social media expressed admiration for Kipchoge’s reception.
Jules Wambui tweeted, “He’s a legend but that’s the Queen of Thailand they bowing to.”
Harper added, “It’s amazing how the royal family treated him—super high respect for the legend!”
Ken commented, “Many Kenyans don’t fully grasp Kipchoge’s greatness. The man is a national sporting icon.”
