Grammy Award–winning artiste Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have officially confirmed their relationship through a series of cosy images shared on her Instagram.
In the post, shared with her 202 million followers, the Roar singer is seen cuddling and enjoying time with Trudeau in Tokyo, Japan. She posted photos of the pair sampling Japanese cuisine and taking in a traditional sumo match.
The Dark Horse singer captioned the post, “Tokyo times on tour and more.”
It marks the first time the 41-year-old has publicly shared photos of them as a couple, though she has been spotted on several occasions sharing intimate moments with Trudeau.
In October, the American pop star and the former Canadian leader were photographed holding hands during a glamorous night out in Paris, fuelling relationship rumours.
According to TMZ, the high-profile couple was also seen at the famous Crazy Horse show in France while celebrating the Firework singer’s 41st birthday.
The two appeared relaxed and happy as they exited the venue to cheering fans and paparazzi.
Perry looked elegant in a bright red dress, while Trudeau wore an all-black suit. They briefly waved at the crowd before he escorted her to their car, smiling and holding hands.
A fan called out a birthday message as they left: “Happy Birthday Katy.”
The sighting added to a series of earlier encounters that had stirred speculation about their relationship.
Also in October, TMZ published photos of the pair sharing a cosy moment aboard Perry’s yacht, laughing and cuddling under the sun.
Dating rumours first sparked in July when they were spotted dining together in Montreal, followed by a leisurely, romantic walk in Mount Royal Park. Soon after, Trudeau attended one of Perry’s shows on her Lifetimes tour, enthusiastically singing along to “Last Friday Night” in what many saw as a clear display of affection and support.
Trudeau stepped down as Canada’s Prime Minister in January 2025, concluding nine years in office after first being elected in 2015.
The 53-year-old divorced his wife, Sophie Grégoire, in the summer of 2023 after 18 years of marriage and parenting three children.
Perry, meanwhile, recently ended her long relationship with actor Orlando Bloom after nearly a decade together. They share one daughter.
Fans reacted quickly to Perry’s Instagram reveal.
User Just Juan Ruiz wrote, “The way they look at each other in the 4th slide,” referring to a video of the couple sampling Japanese food.
Another, Jake McAuley, joked, “TRUDADDY LAUNCH.”
