Former TV host and media personality Willis Raburu has filed a lawsuit seeking Sh10 million from East African Breweries PLC (EABL) and Game Changer Marketing Limited, alleging a breach of contract linked to the Furaha City Festival held in December 2024.
Through his company, Steizon Limited, Raburu claims he fulfilled all contractual obligations, including digital promotion, event coordination, branding, and influencer engagement.
Despite this, he says the two companies failed to honour their payment commitments.
Represented by lawyers Danstan Omari and Martina Swiga, Raburu argues that although his company signed the agreement, the events company did not physically append its signature.
He insists, however, that the contract remains legitimate and enforceable, pointing to the parties’ conduct, email correspondence, and execution of the project as proof.
“It has been over a year of trying to engage professionally, following proper channels, and keeping matters out of the public eye. But we have now decided to move to court because creatives in this country must be appreciated and respected. Courts exist to protect rights, and I encourage other creatives facing similar challenges to take the necessary steps to ensure respect for their work,” Raburu said.
According to court documents filed at the High Court in Nairobi, Steizon Limited was contracted on December 6, 2024, to provide full event coordination services for the Furaha City Festival scheduled for the following day at a fee of KSh 10 million.
Raburu’s team reportedly delivered over 60 promotional reels, more than 100 static posts, and achieved a social media reach exceeding one million users.
Despite this extensive work, the defendants allegedly failed, neglected, and refused to make payment, a move Raburu claims pushed his communications firm into financial distress.
He is now asking the court to declare the contract valid and binding, confirm that the defendants owe him the Sh10 million, and compel immediate payment with interest.
