More than 20,000 people have signed a petition calling for the deportation of rapper Nicki Minaj back to Trinidad.

The backlash comes after her interview on Erica Kirk’s show Turning Point USA, where the ‘Anaconda’ hitmaker expressed admiration for former U.S. President Donald Trump and weighed in on other controversial topics.

The petition reads, “Nicki Minaj’s actions and words have taken a turn that has left many of her supporters and those who once found solace in her music feeling deeply betrayed. Once a voice for the LGBTQ+ community, she has now flipped her stance, asserting outdated and harmful notions such as ‘boys should just be boys.’ These statements aren’t just insensitive; they undermine the very foundations of a community that looked up to her for advocacy and understanding.”

It continues, “This is personal for those of us who watched Nicki rise as a beacon of hope, only to feel abandoned by her shift in values. Her public platform carries weight and responsibility, and her recent statements are a stark contrast to the solidarity she once showed, leaving many feeling deflated and disillusioned. Furthermore, Nicki’s status in the United States is not based on citizenship, which raises questions about her continued presence here despite her divisive actions and statements.”

The Trinidadian rapper has also been resharing videos from the White House on TikTok, including one set to her hit Va Va Voom that promoted Trump’s stances on transgender rights and immigration.

After publicly applauding a Trump post on Truth Social about Nigeria, she received an invitation from U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz to speak on what was described as the persecution of Christians in the country.

Nicki explained that her engagement stemmed from a personal connection: Nigeria is home to many of her devoted fans, known collectively as the Barbz.

However, her outspoken embrace of MAGA politics has sparked backlash.

Some longtime supporters have publicly distanced themselves, posting TikTok videos and social media messages announcing their decision to part ways with the rapper.

Social media users have shared mixed reactions to the petition.

George Loner on Instagram wrote, “Where can I sign that petition?” while another user, Felixmusic, commented, “Welcome Nicki.”
