US-based gospel singer Barakito Rodrigue is in the country ahead of his upcoming concert, *The God Is Still Working Experience*, set to take place at the Kenya National Theatre (KNT) on January 18, 2026.
Barakito, who grew up in Kenya before relocating to the United States, said his decision to return home was driven by a strong conviction that God had called him back to where his ministry began.
“This is my home. I started releasing music in the USA, but I had never held an official concert there. This concert represents the official launch of my gospel ministry, and it had to be done at home,” he said.
The singer, who is the eldest of six siblings, noted that while living in the US has influenced his sound, he does not limit himself to one musical identity.
“I don’t produce Congolese gospel music per se. I do gospel music,” he said, adding, “I am not tied to any one particular country. I do a lot of African-style music, which is why many of my songs are in Swahili and English.”
Barakito said his music continues to resonate with audiences across different regions, including the US, Kenya, Tanzania and Australia. He also revealed that he has released a song specifically in response to requests from his Congolese fans.
Speaking about the upcoming concert, Barakito said the selection of Kenyan gospel artists featured on the lineup was intentional and deeply personal.
“The artists we selected are gospel singers I have listened to and who have blessed me through their music. I discussed it with my team, and we made it happen,” he said.
He added that the concert will be free to attend as a way of giving back to the community, despite the high costs involved in organising such an event.
“God calls us to go and preach the gospel to all creation. As gospel musicians, that is our duty. I know it’s very costly to prepare a concert, especially without a sponsor, but once in a while it’s good to give back to the community,” he said.
Barakito Rodrigue is a Congolese gospel artist who has gained international recognition for his contributions to contemporary Christian music.
Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, he spent part of his upbringing in Nairobi, Kenya, before eventually relocating to the United States.
His musical career is defined by a commitment to spreading the gospel through a blend of Swahili and French worship songs, often categorised under genres like Afro-pop and contemporary gospel.
He operates under his own label, B Kito Music, and has built a significant digital presence through platforms like YouTube and various music streaming services.
His discography includes popular tracks such as “Milele,” “Upendo wa Yesu,” “Muite Yesu,” and “Ni Shida,” many of which feature collaborations with other gospel musicians like Armand Sila and Walter Chilambo.
