Renowned Kenyan musician Wilson Abubakar Radido, popularly known as Willy Paul, has taken to social media to warn fans about a lookalike allegedly using his likeness to defraud people.
In a series of Instagram posts and videos shared on January 14, 2026, the singer exposed a man he described as a “look-alike conman” who is reportedly posing as his brother and exploiting his fame to solicit money, favours and personal connections.
“This guy is going around claiming to be my brother, using my name to beg for handouts, club entries and even romantic hookups,” Willy Paul said in a candid video. “He is not my brother and he is not me. Fans, please block and report him immediately.”
According to the artist, several club-goers have reported encountering the suspect at popular nightlife spots, where he allegedly flashes fake credentials and name-drops Willy Paul to skip queues or receive free drinks.
One fan, who spoke anonymously, said the resemblance was convincing at first.
“He looked just like Willy from a distance. He even copied his walk and slang. I almost believed him until he asked for my number and money for a ‘family emergency,’” the fan claimed.
Willy Paul said the situation has taken an emotional toll on him, noting that the scam not only damages his reputation but also targets loyal supporters who may later blame him.
“I’ve worked hard to build my brand through music like Njiwa and my gospel roots. Don’t let this fake ruin that,” he urged.
To help fans identify the suspect, the singer shared side-by-side photos highlighting subtle differences, including a scar on the imposter’s left cheek that Willy Paul does not have.
The musician has called on authorities to investigate the matter, as fans rallied behind him online and pledged their support.
The unidentified man has yet to publicly come out and defend or deny the accusations levelled by the singer.
Similar cases involving celebrity look-alikes, including those impersonating Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, have previously resulted in arrests across East Africa.
