Hiram Gitau: Frenzy after Betty Bayo’s widower spotted enjoying night out with friends

Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash and the widower of late gospel singer Betty Bayo, has sparked mixed reactions online after a video of him partying went viral.

The viral clip, which surfaced online, shows Tash enjoying a night out with friends at a local entertainment joint.

He is seen laughing, sharing drinks, and clinking glasses with a friend, clearly in high spirits.

The video has since divided social media users.

From the comments, some argued it is too soon for Tash to be seen partying, noting that only a few months have passed since his wife’s death.

Others defended him, saying grief is personal and that Tash has the right to seek happiness, citing the marriage vow, “till death do us part.”

Some netizens also expressed concern for the well-being of the late singer’s children.

Itskimtaijune said, “People can look happy on the outside while they’re lost inside. Being spotted with boys doesn’t mean he’s moved on.”

This is not the first time Tash has faced public scrutiny since Betty’s passing.

Days after her burial, a woman named Liz visited him, and they shared a video online, which then generated a frenzy.

A different woman who appeared to console him also faced criticism despite her intentions.

Betty Bayo, known for hits such as 11th Hour, passed away on November 10 after battling acute myeloid leukaemia.

She died while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital, leaving behind two children, Sky and Danny.

During her burial in Kiambu, Tash moved mourners with a heartfelt tribute, appearing alongside her children and family members.

However, questions about the couple’s marital status and legal affairs at the time of her death emerged, deepening public scrutiny.

Conflicting accounts from friends and family about her illness led to calls for an official inquest.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was tasked with investigating her treatment timeline and cause of death.

Tensions also arose over her estate and the custody of her children, involving both Tash and other family members.

Combined with public attention on her friendships and past relationships, these issues have turned the aftermath of her passing into a complex legal and social matter that continues to be watched keenly.
