Popular Nigerian TikTok creator Lolo Mbakara, wife of comedian MC Mbakara, has become the centre of an online controversy over her choice of attire.
In a recent viral TikTok video, Mbakara appeared in a revealing outfit described by critics as “indecent,” sparking heated debates across social media platforms, including TikTok and Facebook.
The clip, reportedly shot at a Gen Z-themed party, showed her in what some commenters called an “innerwear-like” ensemble, prompting accusations that it was inappropriate for a married woman and mother.
Online, backlash was swift, with self-styled “online in-laws” flooding comment sections.
“There are some clothes you don’t wear as a married woman… But if your husband likes it.. who am i to interfere,” wrote Ugee’s Wardrobe on Facebook.
Another, Judith Ataihire wrote, “Is this not too much exposure for content though? You can address harassment without making your body the focus of the message. Two things can be true at once…men should behave better, and public figures should be mindful of what they project, especially to young girls. End.”
This is not Mbakara’s first fashion-related controversy. A similar incident in August 2025 drew criticism for another outfit deemed too provocative.
However, her fans rallied in her defence, emphasising her right to self-expression and celebrating her entrepreneurial journey with her husband.
In a January 2026 podcast, the couple shared how they rose from early struggles in content creation to building a brand through skits, motivational posts, and TikTok challenges.
Supporters argue that as a 30-something influencer, Mbakara represents modern womanhood, embracing confidence, style, and unapologetic self-expression in spaces often dominated by Gen Z trends.
Mbakara has not yet publicly responded, but past controversies suggest she may likely address the backlash with humour or defiance in a follow-up video.
