President Donald Trump has blasted Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show, branding it “absolutely terrible” and “one of the worst, EVER.”
In a post on Truth Social, the US President criticised the performance, claiming it failed to meet America’s standards of success and excellence.
He complained that the songs were in Spanish, saying “nobody understands” them, and described the dancing as “disgusting” and inappropriate for children.
“The Super Bowl Halftime Show is absolutely terrible, one of the worst, EVER! It makes no sense, is an affront to the Greatness of America, and doesn’t represent our standards of Success, Creativity, or Excellence. Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children who are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World,” President Trump wrote.
Trump went on to compare the performance to what he described as his administration’s strong economic record, calling the show a “slap in the face” to the country’s progress.
He argued that the halftime show was not inspirational and predicted it would only be praised by the “Fake News Media,” whom he accused of being out of touch with reality.
“This ‘Show’ is just a ‘slap in the face’ to our Country, which is setting new standards and records every single day, including the Best Stock Market and 401(k)s in History! There is nothing inspirational about this mess of a Halftime Show and watch, it will get great reviews from the Fake News Media, because they haven’t got a clue what is going on in the REAL WORLD,” he continued.
The President also aimed at the NFL over its recent rule changes, specifically criticising the league’s new kickoff format and calling for its immediate replacement.
According to Forbes, the comment revived Trump’s long history of complaints about changes to NFL rules, which he has previously argued have made the sport less tough.
“I think it’s so terrible. I think it’s so demeaning, and I think it hurts the game. It hurts the pageantry… I’ve told that to [NFL Commissioner] Roger Goodell, and I don’t think it’s any safer. I mean, you still have guys crashing into each other,” Trump said during a 2025 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
Trump’s comments followed Bad Bunny’s Grammy Awards speech, where the singer criticised US immigration policies.
While accepting the Best Música Urbana Album award, he declared, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out,” adding, “We’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we’re humans… The only thing that’s more powerful than hate is love.”
Following Trump’s backlash, social media users rallied behind the ‘Soy Peor’ singer.
Instagram user Freaky Marko wrote, “So that means he did a wonderful job.”
Another, May Aisha, added, “So he watched the show.”
User Real Memphitz chimed in, “THAT SHOW WAS AMAZING & DIFFERENT. GREAT JOB @badbunny.”
