Public voting is now open for the 7th edition of the Women in Film Awards Kenya (WIFA), giving audiences a chance to spotlight the women shaping the country’s fast-growing film, television, and digital content space.
Running from February 2 to 16, 2026, the voting window allows the public to support nominees across a wide range of categories, including directing, producing, screenwriting, cinematography, acting, animation, editing, costume design, makeup artistry, sound recording, and digital content creation.
The 2026 edition is themed “Access Granted: Women Filmmakers Driving Innovation in the Creative Economy,” poised to honour the growing role of women as innovators and leaders within Kenya’s creative sector.
According to organisers, this year’s nominees reflect the depth and diversity of women-led storytelling in Kenya, bringing together established industry professionals, rising talents, and fresh voices. They stressed the need for the public to participate in the voting.
“Your vote is an important part of the WIFA journey,” said WIFA founder and director Dr. Susan Gitimu.
“It allows creative audiences to actively participate in celebrating the women whose stories, leadership, and creativity continue to inspire and transform the film industry.”
Gitimu added that the nominees’ work continues to challenge dominant narratives, raise production standards, and push creative boundaries in an evolving industry.
Voting is open to everyone through WIFA’s official social media platforms or by scanning the QR code on the official voting poster.
The exercise closes on February 16, with winners to be unveiled at the 7th Women in Film Awards Kenya ceremony on March 13, 2026
