San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White is recovering from surgery after being shot in the ankle early Monday morning at a San Francisco nightclub.
The incident followed a reported dispute involving rapper Lil Baby.
According to reports from MSN and ABC7, the shooting occurred around 3:00 pm at Dahlia’s, a nightclub in the Mission District.
White was hosting a private celebration following Super Bowl LX, which took place hours earlier at Levi’s Stadium.
Police information obtained by the San Francisco Standard suggests the altercation began when Lil Baby and his entourage attempted to enter a private area where White was hosting guests.
A witness claimed the two groups engaged in a verbal dispute before gunfire erupted. Investigators later recovered 9mm and .45-calibre shell casings from the scene.
In a statement on X, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie called the violence “unacceptable” and thanked the SFPD for their quick response.
“Any violent incident in our city is unacceptable, and I’m hoping Keion recovers quickly. I’ve spoken with SFPD and 49ers leadership – we are all grateful to our SFPD officers for their quick response,” he wrote.
The 49ers confirmed that White underwent successful surgery at San Francisco General Hospital, noting the injury is not considered career-threatening, and he is expected to recover before the 2026 season.
While Lil Baby was present at the venue, he has not been named as a suspect or charged with a crime.
The SFPD indicated that the investigation has faced challenges as White has been “uncooperative” regarding the identity of the shooter.
The case remains under active investigation by the Strategic Investigation Unit, and no arrests have been made.
The shooting now casts a shadow over the Super Bowl weekend, which saw the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots 29–13.
