A father in Texas shot and killed his British daughter following an argument over President Donald Trump, a court has heard.
According to the BBC, the shooting occurred at his home on January 10, 2025, the same day they had a heated dispute.
Lucy Harrison, from Warrington, England, had travelled to Prosper, Texas, when she suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
Initially, local police investigated the incident as a possible accidental shooting. A grand jury in Collin County later declined to indict her father, Kris Harrison, meaning no criminal charges were filed.
However, in 2026, a court in England began examining the circumstances surrounding Lucy’s death.
Her boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the court the pair had a “big argument” about Donald Trump, who was preparing to begin his second term as President at the time.
Littler said Lucy was often uncomfortable with her father’s frequent talk about guns.
In a written statement, Kris admitted he had struggled with alcohol in the past and had broken his sobriety on the day Lucy died by drinking a large amount of wine.
During the argument, Lucy reportedly asked her father: “How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?” He allegedly responded that it would not upset him much as he had two other daughters at home. Littler said the remark left Lucy deeply distressed.
Shortly before they were due to leave for the airport, Kris led Lucy from the kitchen to his bedroom. Within seconds, a loud bang rang out.
“I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor… and Kris was just screaming,” Littler told the court.
Kris claimed the gun discharged accidentally as he showed her his Glock handgun. Police later noted he smelled of alcohol, and CCTV captured him buying wine hours earlier.
