Doja Cat’s long-awaited South African homecoming is finally taking shape after earlier plans were disrupted when the Hey Neighbour festival canceled its 2025 staging.
Now, according to Billboard, the Grammy winner is preparing for a meaningful return to the continent through a major live music initiative that blends entertainment with long-term economic vision.
The global star will headline the third edition of Move Afrika, delivered in partnership with pgLang and Kendrick Lamar. She is set to perform at BK Arena in Kigali on March 17 before heading to SunBet Arena in Pretoria on March 20.
The initiative is designed to continue building toward the first-ever pan-African music touring circuit, aimed at driving job growth, creative industry expansion and increased economic investment across multiple African countries, including Nigeria, which previously hosted related shows in Lagos.
“From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria,” said Doja Cat.
“This isn’t just a tour, it’s a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last. I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming, it’s already here.”
Ticket access will roll out in phases, beginning with selected cardholder pre-sales before fan club opportunities and general public sales via Ticketmaster. Global Citizen is also expected to release information about limited free tickets in the coming weeks, continuing its model of combining entertainment with advocacy and social impact campaigns.
Move Afrika has steadily expanded since its launch, including past performances led by artists such as John Legend. After the African shows, Doja will resume her global Tour run across Europe and North America before concluding on December 1 in New York City at Madison Square Garden, closing out what has become one of her most globally extensive performance eras.
