The recently concluded “Painted Expressions” Artwear Fashion Showcase left Nairobi awash with colour, creativity and bold design statements as young designers took centre stage alongside visiting Italian artist Montanucci Salvatore.
The event, which fused fine art and fashion, transformed painterly concepts into wearable pieces, with vibrant terracotta tones, architectural patterns and gilded textures dominating the runway.

Students and invited designers showcased collections inspired by Salvatore’s artistic philosophy, drawing applause from guests who filled the venue.
Speaking after the showcase, Salvatore encouraged young creatives to remain confident in their abilities and pursue their ambitions relentlessly.

“When I was young I believed in myself and my parents too believed in me, they gave me support, but most importantly believe in yourself,” he said.
The Sicilian artist urged emerging designers to stay focused on their craft, noting that self belief remains a critical ingredient in building a lasting career in the creative industry.

Hosting the Italian fashion icon, Delight Technical College Principal Saitoti Meitemei challenged students to study global trends and learn from those who have already established successful brands internationally.
“I urge you all young fashionistas to emulate those who have made it in the fashion industry, make your mark and create your brand, as a school we’ll facilitate you in any way we can to help you realize your dreams,” said Saitoti.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent through practical exposure and mentorship, adding that platforms such as the showcase allow students to interact directly with global creatives.
The colourful event drew fashion enthusiasts, students and industry players, further cementing Nairobi’s growing reputation as a creative hub while spotlighting emerging talent from the college.
