A newly released video has captured a tense moment during Hillary Clinton’s closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee on her connections with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The session was briefly disrupted after a photo of the proceedings was leaked online.
About an hour into her deposition, Clinton’s attorney, Cheryl Mills, interrupted the questioning upon learning the photo was circulating on social media.
A visibly frustrated Clinton slammed her fist on the table and threatened to end the session.
“I’m done with this. If you guys are doing that, I am done,” she said. “You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home.”
Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert admitted to taking and sharing a photo from inside the deposition room.
She said it was taken before the hearing officially started, but it was later circulated on social media by a conservative influencer, prompting the confrontation.
On February 2, the House Oversight Committee released several hours of video showing Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, giving testimony during separate legal interviews last week.
Both said they were unaware of Epstein’s crimes before they became public knowledge.
Neither Hillary nor Bill Clinton has been accused of wrongdoing by Epstein’s victims. Bill Clinton’s name and photos appear in investigative files connected to the convicted financier, which led to public pressure for the couple to testify.
Social media reactions were mixed, some supporting her and others expressing otherwise.
