Clayton Revocatus Chipando, better known as Baba Levo, is proving that his transition from celebrity to lawmaker is anything but ordinary.

The Kigoma Town MP has unveiled a new initiative to provide health insurance cover for at least 100 bishops and pastors in his constituency; a move that has sparked both admiration and curiosity in equal measure.

In a public message, the youthful legislator said the plan is rooted in his desire to support faith leaders who play a critical role in shaping society.

“I want to ensure that at least 100 bishops and pastors are covered so they can continue praying for and guiding our community,” he said, framing the programme as both a social safety net and a moral investment.

Sources close to the project indicate that efforts are already underway to rope in partners and sponsors, with ambitions to expand the scheme beyond the initial target.

The initiative adds to a growing list of unconventional projects by the MP, who was elected under the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM).

Soon after clinching his seat, Baba Levo made headlines by repurposing campaign materials into market tables for small-scale traders, a move widely praised for its creativity and practicality.

He later tapped into his celebrity network, calling on friends including Diamond Platnumz to help fundraise for classroom desks.

Before stepping into politics, Baba Levo built his name in the entertainment scene as a Bongo Flava artiste closely associated with the Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) label, while also working as a radio presenter.

Now, his evolving leadership style; blending grassroots development, celebrity influence and faith-based outreach, is setting him apart as one of Tanzania’s most watched young politicians.
