Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime has candidly opened up about her past relationship with Abraham Tukahiirwa, popularly known as Skylanta and father of her son Selassie Ataho.
Speaking in a raw interview on the Arts4Hearts TV , the 38-year-old revealed she once paid her own dowry to maintain the image of a traditional marriage.
“I’ve never become a wife,” Kansiime said with a laugh. “I accused myself so much, paid my own dowry, and convinced the whole world and the man himself that we were married.”
She explained that when Skylanta, 45, failed to meet the financial expectations set by her family, she stepped in to save face and sustain the relationship.
According to the comedian, their bond was driven more by societal pressure than a genuine foundation.
The breaking point came on her 30th birthday when Skylanta missed the celebration, only showing up at the end to collect leftover food for their dog.
She said the moment triggered an awakening, as he was neither present for milestones nor committed to building a shared future.
“It was a straight-up conversation, ‘I don’t think this is it,’” she recalled, a decision that led to their separation.
The two have since prioritised co-parenting. Skylanta recently relocated from Mbarara to Kampala to be closer to their son’s school, with Selassie alternating weeks between both parents.
Looking back, Kansiime credits divine timing for her career success and motherhood, admitting the pressures of fame once weighed heavily on her and fueled a strong desire to have a child, a journey she ultimately entrusted to faith.
Skylanta has yet to make any public comments in response to Kansiime’s claims.
