French President Emmanuel Macron recently shared highlights from his Kenyan tour in a video posted on Instagram, appreciating culture and his .

Macron arrived in Kenya on Sunday, May 10, 2026, and led the Africa Forward Summit held on May 11 and 12.

In the clip seen by TNX Africa, the French President joined renowned chef Dennis Ombachi in a cooking session where he learned how to prepare ugali and collard greens, appearing to enjoy the experience.

The video also captured the lively welcome he received upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, where he was treated to traditional Maasai songs and dances.

Macron later met marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge, with the two seen jogging together alongside security officers. They also visited State House Primary School, where they awarded trophies to pupils.

As the montage played, an audio clip featured Macron addressing President William Ruto, saying: “Hamjambo! Asante sana William kwa ukaribisho wako. I am pleased to come back seven years after my first visit.”

Another clip captured President Ruto responding: “You have demonstrated with us that you are a true friend.”

The video further showed Macron interacting with Kenyan artistes including Bien-Aimé Baraza, Savara and Coster Ojwang, as well as attendees at the Africa Forward Summit held at Kenyatta International Convention Centre.

He captioned the post: “Asante William Ruto, asante Kenya.”

Kenyans on social media shared mixed reactions to the video.

On Instagram, one user identified as Jasica wrote, “At least he had fun. Karibu Kenya.” Another user, Chisty, commented in French: “Well done Mr President! Love your humility, energy and positivity.”

The Africa Forward Summit brought together more than 1,500 business and government leaders from across Africa and France. The two-day event featured influential African heads of state, including Félix Tshisekedi and Paul Kagame.

The forum aimed to foster partnerships focused on industrial growth and ambitious development projects, while also exploring practical strategies for economic cooperation among nations.
