A traditional tiger-head bag carried by Elon Musk’s six-year-old son, X Æ A-Xii, has become the latest viral fashion sensation in China after the child appeared at a high-level diplomatic meeting in Beijing alongside his father.

The young boy, popularly nicknamed “Lil X,” stole attention at the Great Hall of the People during a major China summit attended by global business executives and political leaders. Photos and videos circulating online showed him dressed in a light blue traditional-style Chinese vest embroidered with floral and bird patterns over a white shirt, while clutching a handcrafted tiger-head crossbody bag.

Almost instantly, Chinese social media users began searching for the accessory, praising its blend of tradition and modern fashion. The bag reportedly sold out within hours after the images spread online, with manufacturers now rushing to meet the sudden demand.

The tiger-themed bag carries deep cultural meaning in China. Inspired by traditional tiger-head dolls and children’s accessories, the design is rooted in Chinese folklore where tigers symbolize protection, courage and good fortune.

Historically, tiger-head shoes, hats and bags were often given to children to ward off evil spirits and bless them with strength and health.

According to reports, the bag worn by Musk’s son was created by artisans from Guangxi and incorporates “guochao” aesthetics  a growing Chinese fashion trend that mixes modern streetwear with traditional cultural elements.

Embroidered details on the bag also reportedly include symbols associated with prosperity and blessings.

The viral moment has further boosted interest in Chinese heritage-inspired fashion among younger consumers online.

Many netizens described the appearance of Musk’s son carrying the tiger bag at such a prestigious event as an unexpected but powerful showcase of Chinese culture on the global stage.
