Selam Tegegn is a leader who defines eras, not just holds titles.

Born in Ethiopia, enriched by Eritrean heritage, and shaped by a formative childhood in Nairobi, Kenya, her journey is one directed by purpose.

Now based in Western Australia, she is a respected voice for leadership, advocacy, and multiculturalism and committed to social justice, cultural inclusion, and workers’ rights. 

Currently serving as a Multicultural and Public Relations Ambassador in WA, Selam builds authentic bridges across communities.

Her work spans promoting cross-cultural understanding, supporting migrants and refugees, and partnering with grassroots organisations and government stakeholders to foster trust and representation. 

Her impact is widely recognised.

Selam has received the Outstanding Individual Community Award from the Courageous Women Multicultural Network, the Outstanding Community Leader award from the Organisation of African Communities, and an Outstanding Service Award from the West Australian Labor Party and Australian Labor Government. 

Beyond advocacy, she is a clinical registered nurse, educator, and mentor. She provides leadership development, career coaching, and guidance for individuals navigating complex systems blending evidence-based practice with deep empathy.

She also serves as a former Vice President and current Board Member of the Multicultural Labour Organisation and remains active in the Australian Labor Party and union movements. 

Adding to her dynamic portfolio, Selam is currently involved with the ongoing Rudeboy Australian Tour, bringing her community engagement and cross-cultural expertise to one of the country’s most vibrant live music events. Her role highlights the intersection of arts, culture, and inclusive leadership. 

Through her podcast The Becoming of a CEO national advocacy platforms, and mentorship of future changemakers, Selam Tegegn continues to rise proving that when one voice lifts others, entire communities grow stronger.
