Kenyan rapper Stivo Simple Boy has announced his separation from his girlfriend, Brenda, following claims that DNA test results showed he is not the biological father of their son, Dragon Junior.
In a statement shared on his Instagram page, the rapper said the two had parted ways following the results.
“Following the DNA results, I wish to officially announce that Brenda and I are no longer together as a couple,” he stated.
Stivo acknowledged the difficulty of coming to terms with the results, saying he had chosen to handle the situation with dignity.
He also appealed to fans to respect his privacy as he navigates what he described as a challenging chapter in his life.
The rapper said he would focus on his music career and work towards building a better future.
“My focus remains on my music, my career and building a better future,” he concluded.
His announcement has sparked debate on social media, with some fans encouraging him to remain strong and treat the experience as a life lesson.
Others have highlighted the emotional toll such situations can have on men, calling for legal protections and greater recognition of the challenges they may face.
One social media user, @jefflawgan, called for laws to protect men in similar circumstances, arguing that many suffer silently while grappling with pain, doubt and unanswered questions.
“I honestly feel that there should be laws in place to protect men in such circumstances. So many men have suffered silently carrying pain, doubt and questions they are afraid to voice. It’s time we acknowledge the reality and create room for fairness and justice for those involved,” the user wrote.
Stivo, whose real name is Stephen Otieno, rose to prominence in Kenya’s music scene through his distinctive style, humble persona and straightforward delivery.
The Kibera-born musician gained widespread recognition with his hit song “Mihadarati”, which helped establish him as a household name and opened doors to further opportunities in the entertainment industry.
