RwandAir, Rwanda’s national carrier, has expanded its fleet in August with two leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft, bolstering its capacity for short and medium-haul flights. Kenya is among five countries whose major airports are set to benefit from a US$ 82.5 million project to phase out firefighting foams containing PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), hazardous “forever chemicals” linked to serious environmental and health risks. Angola has become the latest sovereign shareholder in the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC), three years after the Southern African country joined the infrastructure solutions provider as a member. Nigeria has joined the list of countries that do not owe the International Monetary Fund (IMF), after it cleared a US$3.4 billion emergency loan it received during the pandemic. The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has maintained the 15% benchmark rate to temper inflation and anchor exchange rate expectations at its second Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting. French prosecutors dropped a criminal complaint by the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) against Apple in mid-February saying the allegations were not ‘well-founded’, new reports indicate.
