Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is calling for peace, dialogue, and tolerance amidst the costly conflicts affecting various parts of the world.
In his Easter message, Mudavadi reflected on the troubling situations in several countries, including neighbouring nations on the continent, where war has disrupted livelihoods. He highlighted the situations in Sudan and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo as particularly concerning.
“In London this week, I reaffirmed Kenya’s unwavering commitment to mediation and humanitarian support. As Africans, we must keep faith that peace is possible because we have seen what is possible when we refuse to give up on each other,” he stated.
“As conflict continues to cast its shadow over Sudan and the Eastern DRC, we pray for the miracle of peace to take root. Not just in the halls of politics, but in the hearts of men and women who yearn for an end to bloodshed,” Mudavadi added.
Mudavadi, who also serves as the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary, reiterated Kenya’s steadfast belief that dialogue, rather than arms, is the path to resolution.
“Tolerance, not fear, is the basis of true security, and that our shared humanity across all borders is a gift we are called to protect,” he explained.
“As we bow our heads ingratitude this Easter, let us also lift our voices in prayer, for peace in the Middle East, in Europe, and in every corner of the world where violence has silenced joy. We especially remember the children who dream of classrooms instead of camps. Their innocence calls us to act with urgency and compassion,” the Prime CS emphasised.
Mudavadi, who attended a high-level international conference in London aimed at finding “a pathway to peace” in Sudan, stressed that peaceful conflict resolution, regional cooperation, and support for international peacekeeping initiatives must be upheld by all.
“In the spirit of Easter, let us be instruments of peace. Let us listen more, forgive quickly, and work each day to mend what is broken. May this season inspire us to build not just stronger nations, but a more united continent,” he said
