Tragedy struck on Monday at Loberer area along the Marigat-Chemolingot route in Baringo County, where two people were shot dead and two others injured.

The victims were ambushed by suspected bandits while travelling to Nginyang market in a police convoy.

As the convoy was attacked, the driver of one lorry tried to escape on foot but was unfortunately gunned down. The second victim later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The Marigat-Loruk road has become increasingly dangerous, with police now providing escorts for vehicles due to rising insecurity in the area.

Following these recent killings, tensions have escalated, prompting enhanced security measures from the police.

The bodies have been taken to Baringo County Hospital mortuary.
