We can all agree that the wedding of Priscilla Ojo to her Tanzanian beau, Juma Jux, may well be the wedding of the year, or at the very least, a strong contender for the title.

From a spectacle of love, culture, breathtaking display of décor to a parade of stunning fashion that left onlookers in awe, this meticulously planned wedding had social media positively buzzing across the globe.

Marking the start of her new journey, from the pre-wedding celebrations to the big day itself, Priscilla graced us with a series of gowns befitting royalty. Each gown resonated with elegance and her bubbly personality, all while staying true to the significance of the moment.

The undisputed star of the show and the gown that has undoubtedly captured the most attention was the exquisite white wedding dress designed by Veekee James.

This masterpiece, a full white, fully embellished lace gown, embodied the essence of a classic bridal fantasy with a contemporary edge. The silhouette appeared to be a semi-mermaid, gracefully hugging Priscilla’s figure before gently flaring out, creating a look that is both elegant and soft.

“I went to God before creating Priscilla’s wedding dress,” Fashion designer Veekee James shared. She went on to say that the process of making the gown took several intense weeks, stretching into a month, with her team at one point working for three days straight to complete it.

It is clear that this was not merely another fashion endeavour for the designer but a deeply personal undertaking, and one she considers unlike anything she has created before.

“This was a labour of love, laced with prayer and precision,” Veekee said. The designer further explained that this project took a personal toll, with her experiencing exhaustion and even losing her voice due to the stress of the design process.

The fabric, a delicate and intricate lace, was heavily embellished with what appears to be sequins and various types of beads. These embellishments aren’t scattered haphazardly; instead, they were thoughtfully placed, catching the light with every movement and adding a layer of luxurious texture and depth to the gown

“We used a blend of different types of beads, artfully combining the delicate textures of Chantilly lace and Chantilly lace cutouts for drama and an ethereal effect on the bodice and sleeves. About 60 to 70 per cent of the beads used were custom-made,” Veekee explained, truly capturing the bespoke nature of the gown.

The high neckline, featuring a sheer yoke, adds a touch of sophistication and modesty, drawing attention to Priscilla’s radiant face. The long sleeves, also crafted from the embellished lace, contribute to the overall regal and timeless feel of the dress.

The back of the gown, though details are still emerging, is likely to be just as stunning, perhaps featuring a dramatic train that trails behind her, adding to the grandeur of her entrance. Completing this iconic look was a long, flowing veil, the delicate fabric cascading down, adding an ethereal touch to her bridal ensemble. Her hair was styled in an elegant updo, allowing the intricate details of the gown’s neckline to shine, and she accessorised with simple stud earrings, ensuring the focus remained on the dress itself.

The bouquet, a harmonious blend of white, cream and soft pink florals with dark feathery accents, provided a soft contrast against the stark white of the gown, adding a touch of romanticism.

When asked about her wedding gown, Priscilla Ojo said she had always envisioned herself in a mermaid gown made by Veekee James.

Even amidst the excitement of wedding preparations, Priscilla’s anticipation for the final reveal remained high. While she had attended “fittings,” the true unveiling of the completed masterpiece occurred on her wedding day.

“You (Veekee James) don’t have any bad looks, so I obviously knew you were going to kill it. This is my dream dress,” she affirmed, her words echoing the deep trust she placed in the designer’s vision.

Reports describe Priscilla as being “visibly moved and emotional,” a natural reaction to witnessing a long-held dream materialise so beautifully.
