Kenya has called for the creation of a new world order that reflects current global realities and addresses longstanding imbalances that have disadvantaged the Global South.
Speaking during a public lecture at Peking University in Beijing, President William Ruto emphasized the need to fashion a new world order, which takes cognisance of present realities.
The President who is in China for a State Visit, noted that the financial and security architecture that arose out of the ashes of that conflict has largely benefited the Global North at the expense of the Global South with exclusion of everyone else.
“The ongoing trade tariff wars could signal the end of the old world order as it has existed since the end of World War II.” He said.
President Ruto urged Kenya and China to continue leading efforts to amplify the voice of the Global South in international fora. He specifically emphasized the urgent need to reform global institutions to make them more inclusive, representative, and efficient.
“Also called for Kenya and China to continue championing the cause of Global South in international fora, especially the need to reform global institutions to be more representative and efficient.” President Ruto noted.
