A record field of 140 golfers graced the 7th edition of the Resurrection Golf Tournament sponsored by the protestant members of the Nakuru Golf Club on Thursday, May 1,
to celebrate the risen Christ after a successful Lenten Golf Day of Good Friday, which was sponsored by Catholic faithful from among the membership.

Kamonjo Kiburi, who mobilised resources for the daylong tournament, was over the moon for the great turnout that graced the tournament.

“It is fulfilling to see so many golfers participate in this edition of the Resurrection Golf Tournament and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ with golfers from all walks of life and clubs,” said Kamonjo.

Out on the course, Boniface Mouti was declared the Overall winner of the tournament after returning a score of 43 stableford points while playing off handicap 25.
“This was just one of those lucky days where everything falls into place. I have also been practising a lot, and I’m happy that my efforts are beginning to bear fruit with this win,” said Mouti.
Former Vice Chairman Linda Munyao raked in 39 stableford points to clinch the Division A winner prize while playing off handicap 17, followed closely by Francis Kioni, who posted 38 stableford points while playing off handicap 10.

In Division B, clergyman Nicholas Kamau, playing off handicap 15, won with 42 stableford points ahead of Samuel Keige, who managed 41 stableford points.

The Division C top prize went to Dr Gachara Ndegwa from Thika Sports Club, who inked 43 stableford points. The Sponsors Prize went to Nancy Kimemia, playing off handicap 23 with a score of 37 stableford points.

Visiting golfer Ken Serem from Eldoret Club (The Musketeers) had the fewest strokes on the course of 75 to claim the Gross prize playing off handicap -1.

Handicap 26, Florence Wafula emerged as the Lady winner upon recording 42 stableford points.

The Senior winner was Sammy Ndun’gu with 37 stableford points. Donnel Bett was the Junior winner with 37 stableford points.
