A video of Nominated MP Joseph Wainaina hungrily munching on chapati has gone viral, sparking widespread amusement on social media.

Clad in a black suit, the MP is seen picking a chapati from a pan, cutting it into small pieces, and sharing portions with others while chewing quickly.

The clip quickly broke the internet, with netizens flooding the comment section with jokes and light-hearted questions.

“How do I convince people he is an MP in Kenya?” one user, Samson, quipped.

Hazel asked, “Huyu naye ni wa wapi?”

Others were amused by the small chapati portions he was handing out.

“Kwanini anakatia guka tunusu tunusu?”

“Why is he doing that though? Not the chewing! Not the cutting every chapo before giving some piece to someone else. So triggering!” added Julia Gathoni.

The hilarious moment was captured during the launch of flour products in Kirinyaga.

The event also featured Governors Anne Waiguru, Irungu Kang’ata, and Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui, who were filmed preparing chapati themselves in another video that equally excited viewers online.

Little is known of MP Wainaina, aside from his Honorary Doctorate from the controversial Northwestern Christian University and his involvement in community peacebuilding.

The university had praised his peacemaking efforts in Uasin Gishu during periods of post-election violence.

“I thank God for everything, and I’m elated because of the recognition by the university,” Wainaina said.

However, the institution later came under fire for awarding an honorary degree to Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, labeling him an “engineer”, which prompted an investigation by the Commission for University Education (CUE).

The CUE noted that Northwestern Christian University is unaccredited and that it was probing the circumstances around the awards.
