Martha Karua has set the internet abuzz following her recent visit to Wakadinalis’ studios.
Her suave groove, coupled with a stylish drip of Kitenge top, faded jeans, black boots, a fedora hat, and eyeglasses, elicited reactions among netizens and fans of one of Kenya’s most celebrated hip-hop groups. Talk of bars and boots.
In the clip that is doing laps across the internet, Karua is seen enjoying a dance to the hit song “Tamashani” behind the sound engineer, a side hardly seen in her political endeavor.
Netizens playfully dubbed her’Mkadinali,’ synonymous with the popular music group. A section of the netizens even proposed that she feature on the next Zoza Nation track.

During the visit, however, the Rong Rende trio- Scar, Domani Munga, and Sewer Sydaa- were not present.
While some Kenyans joked about the situation, others attributed her visit to political strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections, as is the norm.
One fan @K.okonati— wrote, ‘Akitoka hapo kitu atakuwa anajua ni ‘’Njege MASANSE WAKWENDE’’. @-kamakia—‘’ Kura lazima zitafutwe’’ and one @steve muriuki, commented, ‘’Wanasiasa itabidi tumewageuza wasanii na content creators ndio tuwapee kura.’’
Others followed suit, with a pool of reactions that turned the comment section into a digital block party.
These reactions underscored the visit’s role in humanising a politician often known for her unapologetic, fierce advocacy and legal acumen.
Politicians often choose to onboard youthful artistes as a strategy to reach Kenya’s youth, a demographic increasingly influential in the country’s political landscape.
This is not the first time a Kenyan politician has turned to local musicians in a bid to spread and popularise their agenda.
In 2022, Raila Odinga used Emmanuel Musindi’s “Lelo ni Lelo” (Today is Today) song for his campaign, with the song amassing millions of views.
Odinga further enlisted the popular “Cheza Kama Wewe” hitmaker Mario TJ Kasela, better known as Trio Mio, to perform at his Azimio la Umoja convention.
The young artist drew in large crowds, even modifying his lyrics to include praise for Odinga.
At the same time, William Ruto debuted his presidential campaign with the hit song “Hatupangwingwi” by Exray featuring Ssaru and Trio Mio.
