Mother’s Day is a time when people around the world honor the women who raised, nurtured, and inspired them. In Kenya, the celebrations were filled with love and gratitude, especially from public figures who took a moment to appreciate their wives and the mothers of their children.

Comedian Njugush shared a touching tribute during a podcast session with his wife, Celestine Ndinda.

He sang a Kikuyu song in honor of his mother, with lyrics that translated to: “I will never insult my mother, I will never abuse her. I call her my second god.”

He later posted a photo embracing Celestine, popularly known as Wakavinye, celebrating her journey in motherhood with admiration.

Veteran musician Nameless also marked the occasion with a nostalgic tribute to his wife, Wahu.

The Sinzia hitmaker posted a video taken nine years ago during a surprise Mother’s Day message.

He captioned it: “That was Mother’s Day nine years ago when Village Market helped me surprise Mama Watoto with a special message. Nine years later and an extra baby to thank God for, the message still stands, with even more admiration for you as a mother to our three girls.”

He added, “To all mothers doing their thing with strength, grace, and wisdom, we appreciate you this Mother’s Day.”

Other celebrities also joined in the celebrations.

Diana Marua, the WaJesus Family, Radio Jambo’s Joe Gidi, and Nana Owiti, King Kaka’s ex-wife shared emotional tributes online.

Nana posted a heartfelt message alongside a photo of herself and her children, writing: “Wishing a heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms, whether by birth or by love.

You are cherished, valued, and deeply appreciated. A happy one to the mums in heaven too. Moms should have been immortal.”

Social media was flooded with similar messages of love and appreciation.

Kenyans posted photos and videos of their mothers, expressing deep affection.

One Instagram user wrote, “Today I celebrate my mother. My pillar of strength, joy, and my motivator. She has held my hand since I was born until I became the person I am today. I love you, mum. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Offline, the day was equally memorable.

In Nairobi, a glamorous Mother’s Day brunch took place at Novotel Hotel in Westlands. Mothers were treated to an exquisite buffet and pampered with a variety of activities.

These included bead-making sessions with Kazuri Beads, makeup sessions by Phoina’s Collection, and an Italian-style live cooking class. Guests also enjoyed massages and pop-up manicures.

The highlight of the event was a soulful live performance by award-winning singer and songwriter Songbird Muthaka, capping off a day full of love, appreciation, and celebration.

From moving tributes by beloved public figures to festive brunches and social media dedications, Kenyans showed up in full force to honor the strength, grace, and love of mothers across the nation.
