FC Talanta today moved out of the relegation zone after stunning title hopefuls Tusker 2-0 in a midweek FKF Premier League match played at Dandora Stadium.
Talanta started the match deep in the battle to avoid being relegated to the National Super League while Tusker were hoping to inch closer to the title. However, at last, it was Talanta who pulled a shocker.
Emmanuel Osoro scored a brace to not only lead the Golden Boot race with 16 goals alongside Shumah but also lift Talanta out of the relegation zone after a shocking 2-0 win over Tusker.
Osoro converted a 10th-minute penalty to give Talanta an early 1-0 lead after the referee penalized George Kaddu for handling in the box.
Tusker got a penalty of their own but the returning Deogratious Ojok saw his effort saved as the hosts took a narrow 1-0 lead to the break.
In the final half, Osoro bagged his brace deep into stoppage time to seal maximum points for Talanta who now sit 12 with 35 points, three points ahead of Mara Sugar who are 15th and in the relegation and promotion playoff spot.
Mara Sugar played out to a 0-0 draw against Bandari while Ulinzi Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Posta Rangers.
