After an excellent performance by Kenyan players in the recent Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) championships in Europe, all are set for the Eastern and Northern Africa Championships in Nakuru on May 31 to June 1.

The event will be held at Lions Hall in the city.

The event is expected to attract players from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and a few northern African countries.

This comes shortly after Kenya’s top seed, Peter Wachiuri, and Manpreet Kalsi’s participation in the Modus Super Series Pairs in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, early this month.

The event is part of the Africa Continental Tour Two and Women Series, which has a large following from the region, and the duo are equally expected to be part of it.

Coordinator Simon Muhia said it brings together darts talents from Eastern and Northern Africa for weekend competitive play in the chase for top honours.

“The tournament, which is family-friendly, is open to all. It’ll have exciting matches and professional set-ups with attractive prizes to the winners,” Muhia told Standard Sports yesterday.

A total of Sh224,000 prize money is to be won by different winners in the two-day competition.

Franchise members must register with a participation fee of Sh2,000 while non-franchise members will have to part with Sh3,000 for them to participate in the men’s competition.

In the women’s series, franchise members will have to pay a participation fee of Sh1,500 while non-members will pay Sh2,500.

There are only two franchise members in Kenya today, who include Pink Flamingo Franchise and Buffalo Franchise groups.
