Opposition Leaders led by Wiper Democratic Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka talk to the press outside Karen Hospital on May 27, 2025/HANDOUT

The opposition, led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, is now
calling for an end to political violence, abductions and extrajudicial killings
in the country.

Speaking after a visit to Karen Hospital, where Juja MP
George Koimburi is undergoing treatment after an alleged abduction, the leaders
urged citizens and civil society groups, and the international community to
rally behind this call.

They also called for an end to what they termed as ‘state
backed’ disruption of peaceful political gatherings.

“We urge every citizen, civil society group, religious
leaders, and international allies to stand in solidarity with us in demanding: An
immediate cessation of all politically motivated violence, abductions and
extrajudicial killings.

“An end to state-backed disruption of peaceful political assemblies,”
the leaders said in a joint statement.

The opposition insisted that the government must also
protect the constitutional rights of everyone, including the freedom of assembly,
association, expression, and political participation.

They called for accountability from telecommunication
companies in the country, claiming that they have aided illegal surveillance
and tracking, which amounts to breaches in data privacy.

“We equally put on notice all political and business
elites-those who fund the goon squads, those who lobby for the maintenance of
tyranny, and those in the diplomatic community who remain silent as Kenya
burns. History will remember your complicity.”

The opposition leaders further called on Kenyans to remain
firm and not let themselves to be silenced by anybody.

They insisted that their fight is not just about politics
but about liberating the country.

“To the Kenyan people, we say: do not be silenced. The
repression we face today is not just about politics; it is about the very soul
of our nation. When voices are muted through fear, when leaders are abducted in broad daylight, and when bullets are fired at peaceful gatherings, the silence
of one becomes the silence of all.”

MP Koimburi was admitted to Karen Hospital on Monday after
he was found alive, dumped in the Jacaranda coffee plantation, Kibichoi, Kiambu county.

He was picked up from the plantation on Monday morning,
almost 12 hours after his family and friends said he had been kidnapped in the Mugutha area.
