Mugithi artist Samidoh has yet found himself  in yet another politically charged situation during a recent performance in the United Kingdom.

While performing at a venue in Camden Town, London, the musician was forced by the crowd to lead shouts of ‘Wantam.’

The crowd repeatedly shouted ‘wantam,’ a couple of times until he bowed to the pressure, but instead of joining the chants, he acknowledged his audience’s enthusiasm while carefully avoiding direct participation in the anti-government sentiment.

His measured response drew positive reactions from the crowd.

This incident occurred against the backdrop of the ongoing controversy surrounding Samidoh’s political activities.

The performer, who also serves as a police officer, recently faced potential disciplinary measures for allegedly violating service standing orders that require law enforcement personnel to remain politically neutral.

When questioned about reports of Samidoh’s potential transfer to Baringo County, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja declined to provide specific details but confirmed that all police officers are subject to standard regulations and transfer procedures.

He emphasised that any personnel movements would follow established protocols for civil servants.

The political controversy surrounding Samidoh intensified following his participation in a meeting with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.

On May 23, Kindiki hosted several artists at his Karen residence, including Samidoh, Jose Gatutura, Karangu Muraya, and Ben Githae, to discuss support mechanisms for the creative industry and intellectual property protection.

This gathering provoked strong criticism from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who publicly condemned the participating musicians.

In response to their meeting with Kindiki, Gachagua called for a boycott of the musicians, urging supporters to unfollow them on social media, avoid their concerts, and exclude them from events until they issue public apologies.
