A woman from Matayos constituency in Busia County has publicly declared she is the biblical Mary, mother of Jesus Christ.

Judith Nafula, claimed that Jesus personally visited her home and gave her the name Mary. According to her, the divine encounter happened in a supernatural way.

“Mwangaza ulitoka juu na sauti ikasema, ‘Mimi ni Christu, na natafuta Mama Maria,’” Judith said, describing the dramatic moment when Christ allegedly appeared to her in a flash of lightning, accompanied by a divine voice.

She recalled replying that she was not Mary, but claims Jesus insisted she was the one.

“Yesu akaniambia, ‘Ni wewe. Wakati umewadia uweze kujitambulisha,” Nafula stated.

Nafula went on to say that her husband also received a visitation from Christ, who named him Joseph, echoing the biblical couple.

However, due to infidelity in their marriage, she says they were both instructed to repent at home for five years without taking Holy Communion.

After their five-year period of penance, Nafula said Christ returned and handed her spiritual books, which she later presented to a church priest.

In an even more puzzling twist, Nafula also claimed that although she is an African woman born in Uganda in 1975, she was actually born a European, a medical anomaly that she says even surprised doctors.

“Nilizaliwa mzungu, lakini nywele pekee ndio ilikua ya Mwafrika,” she said. “My mother told me at birth my skin was that of a white baby, despite her being African.”

The claims have triggered an avalanche of reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing confusion, humour, and even spiritual concern.

The comments section quickly turned into a mix of satire and disbelief.

@mamagianna joked: “Wapi Yesu wa Tongaren atuambie huyu kama ni mamake?”

Mwihaki Mumbui cried out: “Jesus is taking so long to come so the mother decided to come first.”

Leilamackenzie657 added: “Wueh, tuko na Yehova Wanyonyi, Yesu wa Tongaren, alafu sasa Mama Maria? Tungojeni Shetani tu sasa!”

Icon GZ commented: “Ambia huyo Maria tumempea wantam, arudi mahali alitoka.”

Shanmoke questioned: “Ama tuachie Waluhya Kenya, ju what are this?”

@sileythequeen asked, tongue-in-cheek: “Na anajua kweli mtoto wake Yesu ako Tongaren, Bungoma County?”

Heppy Joy concluded, “I chose to keep quiet… until I saw another video where her husband confirmed he is Joseph!”

Judith and her husband’s bold claims follow a wave of similar religious figures in Kenya, including the widely publicised “Yesu wa Tongaren” from Bungoma, who declared himself to be Jesus Christ a few years ago.
