Mugithi star and police officer Samuel Michuki Ndirangu, popularly known as Samidoh, has announced a new U.S. tour despite being declared a deserter by the National Police Service.

Taking to his official Facebook page, Samidoh shared a proverbial quote that read, “No matter how high an eagle flies in the sky, it will come down to look for food,” which many fans interpreted as a veiled response to the recent controversy.

His U.S. tour is scheduled to begin on June 21 in Houston, Texas, followed by performances in Austin on June 28, Lowell, Massachusetts, on July 4, and Dallas, Texas on July 5.

The tour will wrap up on July 12 in Seattle, Washington, with a special show dubbed Ngemi Cia Ruraya.

The announcement comes just days after the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) issued a letter declaring that Samidoh had been absent from duty for over 10 days.

According to the letter dated June 9, 2025, the singer was expected to report back to work on May 27 after being granted off-duty days, but he failed to return, and efforts to trace him have reportedly been unsuccessful.

“Since then, he has not been seen, and his whereabouts are unknown. Efforts to trace him have been futile. He has now absented himself without leave for more than ten days,” the ASTU commander stated. As a result, Samidoh has been officially declared a deserter, and his salary has been halted.

However, National Police Service spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga played down the matter, saying purporting the letter was unofficial.

“The letter is unofficial. Currently, we cannot rule out things like AI that are used to generate such documents,” said Muchiri.

This development follows his recent transfer from Gilgil, Nakuru County, to Baringo County, an area known for frequent cattle rustling incidents.

The situation has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with fans offering a mix of humor, concern, and support.

“Real men abscond from duty for 100 days,” joked Abdi Katan Kamau.

Kipchurta Muren quipped, “Send your uniform as a parcel, bro.”

Agnes Wahito added, “Remember, your boss doesn’t know where you are. Only in Kenya does everyone know your whereabouts, except your boss.”

Despite the controversy, Samidoh appears unfazed and ready to entertain his fans abroad.
